the diamond age

In the diamond age there was many difficult parts to understand. The Feed allowed anything to be created at any outlet making for a minimum standard of living for all mankind and the spread of nanotechnology, which is the smallest imaginable scale that makes clouds of mites that gather information. The mites can examine people from the inside and do all sorts of things. The novel centers around Shanghais and in Chinese territories. A popular form of entertainment in this brave new world is called ractives.
(interactives) There is little live theater in this world but there are still many ractors, who are actors who play along in these interactive scenses. The audience can choose what to see whether to participate or not. Nell’s primer hooks up with one specific ractor named Miranda who becomes a surrogate mother to the child who runs away from home with her brother. I think that Stephenson writes pretty well. I think that if we didn’t have the conversations in class about these books. I don’t think I would have understood it as much. This wasn’t my top favorite book out of all them but it was interesting to read.

gracling

Now when I started reading Gracling I pictured Katsa to look like the character in the new show Nikita. The actress is Maggie O, who is perfect for the part. The show Nikita is about a woman spy and assassin whose name is Nikita. She is her own boss, which is the difference from Katsa. One point in time in the past Nikita was told what to do and who to kill by the Division which is a secret government agency. The Division is a place where they form groups of troubled young people into killers that they use for their own benefit, even if it means they could get killed. It’s easy for the Division to use the young people because they chose ones that are so troubled that they have nothing to their name. So it’s easy for the Division to erase their past and mold them into efficient spies and assassins. This was how Nikita was trained and made into an amazing killer. Nikita escaped the Division to go on her own because they had betrayed her. When reading Gracling I thought of her as Nikita right away. I pictured Katsa beautiful and sexy, just like Nikita, which doesn’t seem like that’s the case after hearing what the class thought the other day.

BloodChild

When i first started to read it i was very confused and for some reason i pictured the creatures as wolves. Throughout the reading i was having a lot of trouble visualizing the story. After discussing it in class i can now picture the story and now understand it a lot better. Its so crazy that in order to them to reproduce they have to lay their eggs inside an animal. I really wonder how she came up with this creative story, i don't think i have ever thought of something like this. I think the author could have done a better job explaining and describing who was the narrator. My over all thought of this story would be interesting and creative.
