Now when I started reading Gracling I pictured Katsa to look like the character in the new show Nikita. The actress is Maggie O, who is perfect for the part. The show Nikita is about a woman spy and assassin whose name is Nikita. She is her own boss, which is the difference from Katsa. One point in time in the past Nikita was told what to do and who to kill by the Division which is a secret government agency. The Division is a place where they form groups of troubled young people into killers that they use for their own benefit, even if it means they could get killed. It’s easy for the Division to use the young people because they chose ones that are so troubled that they have nothing to their name. So it’s easy for the Division to erase their past and mold them into efficient spies and assassins. This was how Nikita was trained and made into an amazing killer. Nikita escaped the Division to go on her own because they had betrayed her. When reading Gracling I thought of her as Nikita right away. I pictured Katsa beautiful and sexy, just like Nikita, which doesn’t seem like that’s the case after hearing what the class thought the other day.
